Àlex Gómez-Marín is a theoretical physicist by training. He earned his bachelor's and PhD degrees in Physics from the University of Barcelona. He later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the EMBL-CRG Centre for Genomic Regulation (Barcelona) and the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown (Lisbon), expanding his work into neuroscience.

His research focuses on studying the human mind in real-world contexts, particularly what he calls “the edges of consciousness.” His work bridges neuroscience, theoretical physics, and anomalous phenomena, combining empirical data with thoughtful speculation on the mind–brain–reality relationship.

Since 2016, he has been a principal investigator at the Institute of Neurosciences in Alicante. He is currently an associate professor at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and director of the Pari Center in Tuscany, Italy—a space dedicated to the intersection of science, art, and the sacred.
